20 (Mildly Interesting) Things About Me

After my last post confessing my darker inclinations, I thought I'd rewrite an older post that got deleted in The Great Blog Fail Of 2017. The original post was 50 Things About Me, but... well, I can hardly remember what I ate for breakfast let alone fifty interesting things to share on the fly.

It's sort of like being asked to name your favorite movies. You absolutely know what movies you love more than any others... right up until someone asks, and then it's like trying to order at a drive-thru window. "Yeah, uhhhh..."

Without further adieu, I give you an About Me page in the form of bullet points.
  • My favorite holiday is Halloween. I love horror movies and the history of the holiday and all those cheesy specials about finally finding Dracula's tomb! (Oh, wait, oops. That's just someone's dog. How'd that get there?)
  • I've studied psychology, history, art history, English lit, anthropology, journalism, and criminology, but if I had it to do all over again, I would study genetics.
  • I love all animals. Dogs, cats, birds, ferrets, snakes... But I am, in my heart of hearts, a die hard Crazy Cat Lady.
  • I kind of... skipped high school, got my diploma in two years through a "homeschooling" association, and then went straight to university.
  • I made my stage debut at the age of 15 as Prince Bristlebeard (dressed in drag, no less!)
  • My brother and I are both obsessed with Jurassic Park. We've seen the original over 200 times and each of the sequels over 100.
  • I desperately want to go to Prague. I think it's the most gorgeous city in the world. Just... look at the architecture.
  • I have an addiction to rescuing sickly plants and nursing them back to health.
  • My taste in music ranges from "this is genius" to "I know, I know, please don't judge me."
  • I was sorted into Slytherin on Pottermore and my extremely Gryffindor mother was not pleased
  • I am the crazy coupon lady you never want to stand behind in line. I even shop through portal websites like Swagbucks and Ebates to get cash back for things I was already going to buy.
  • I've studied French, Japanese, and Russian formally. Informally, I've also studied Danish and German.
  • I have shitty vision. One eye is farsighted, the other is nearsighted; I also have astigmatism and lazy eyes. I'm in my early thirties and already wearing bifocals.
  • My handwriting is absolutely heinous unless I'm writing in Cyrillic or Katakana/Hiragana/Kanji.
  • I really want to learn how to play guitar. Right now I can play Eye Of The Tiger (on drums) and Can You Feel The Love Tonight (on piano).
  • I suffer from crippling migraines that can leave me bedridden for up to a week, and nothing triggers them faster than high-pitched sounds. Hearing a baby cry or a toddler giggle, squeal, or talk loudly equals an instantaneous migraine.
  • I can also hear "silent" alarms and dog whistles. I always wanted to join the X-Men; too bad my superpower is ultra-sensitive hearing.
  • In keeping with the theme of mutant superpowers, my brother and I both have keen senses of smell. We were able to smell our grandmother's pot roast cooking from nearly half a mile away. Yeah, we're weird.
  • I get insanely excited for Shark Week every year. One of the guys from Discovery sent me a Shark Week hoodie and baseball cap, and I ran around cheering like it was Christmas morning.
  • I used to be somewhat phobic about baking, but now it's one of my favorite things to do. Next up, learning how to make my own chocolates!
Thanks for reading, y'all. Who wants to share a few facts about themselves?
