Day 26: Product Funerals: Mascara

10:26 PM

As I'm sure you gals know, you're supposed to swap out your mascaras every three months. I... might have had one of these for closer to a year. I know, I know! It was still going strong until recently, and I'll do better about that kind of thing from now on. These are all used up and going in the trash.

So how did they all fare?

First up, we have Maybelline's Lash Sensational, which I found definitely lived up to its name. Alas, it's not cruelty-free, so I don't plan on repurchasing it no matter how much I enjoyed it.

Next there's Kat Von D's Sin-Full Lash mascara, which I don't think is even sold anymore. It was in a gift set I received and went unopened for a good six months because I was using a couple of others at the time. Once I opened this baby, it became my go-to for when I wanted super-long, dramatic lashes. A truly great product by a CF brand. I definitely want to test other KVD mascaras.

Finally, we have Maybelline's The Rocket Volum' Express. I heard so many people rave about this mascara, but I just... didn't get the hype. The formula stayed very wet, so you can't blink for a good thirty seconds after you apply it unless you want globs or mascara getting everywhere. Do not recommend. Stay away!

  1. Hey there!
I lovee mascaras and I have been repurchasing the lash sensational by maybelline I think for three times already. Before that I have tried so many none had the same effect as the lush. And now Im so happy I finally found the one which is good for me. but I guess it wont stay on the market forever. u have any recommendations?

    1. If it's your favorite, you can always buy backups and store them in a dark, cool drawer. For high-end, I'm a huge fan of Marc Jacobs' and Hourglass' mascaras. For a cheaper brand, you can't beat ELF's Lengthening and Volumizing mascara.
